Went uncracked, though a special mention for VarunA’s lateral thinking skills. I admit the question might not be considered run-of-the-mill, but it was not that off the radar. 🙂

The connection was Mohanlal, the Malayalam actor <also known for a few appearances like in Company, RGV ki Aag, etc>. 1. After Kapil Dev, Mohanlal became the second celebrity to  join the Territorial Army, being given the title of Lietenant Colonel. 2. Gardish is the remake of his great film – Kireedam<Crown>, which won the 1st of his four National Film Awards.

His 1997 film Guru ,which was the official Indian selection for the Oscars <the only Malayalam movie ever to be selected>, was based on H.G.Wells’ Country of Blind. Believe it or not, it is the only film adaptation of that story anywhere in the world.
